Possible excursions

Celle is a place of almost unparalleled diversity. Trade, commerce, sport and culture all play an important role in Celle. Every year visitors from around the world come to experience Celle for themselves. And for holidaymakers and visitors to the Lüneburg Heath, an excursion into Celle is one of the highlights of their whole trip. Today, in the old part of the town alone, there are over 500 lovingly restored half-timbered houses – protected as historical monuments, of course – which create a picturesque and unforgettable impression.

As the former official residence of the Dukes of Welf, Celle can boast an range of impressive buildings. The Ducal Castle, the Town Church (Stadtkirche) and the Old Town Hall are the oldest buildings in Celle. One of Celle's architectural delights is the New Town Hall, an imposing redbrick building from the 19th century and one of the largest buildings of its kind in Germany.
